This project is so far one of the hardest projects I’ve done in a while, I’ve done art during my high school years but nothing like this. I didn’t think they were different type of charcoal pencils and chalks. So let me introduce you the 4- drawings I’ve done in Professor Emerson’s Art 160 class

The Skull was the one of most longest and hardest still-life drawing I’ve in a long time. It was hard doing the details and the lines of the skull because I felt like the shapes were different every time I went to angle of the skull, I used composed charcoal, ebony pencil vine charcoal and conte crayon. The shading I believe is a little bit off because I couldn’t know how to darken the blanket underneath the skull. Overall this is one of my favorite of the 4 drawings pieces.

These are the shapes and a cylinder hammer, I kinda of a texture/ form element design with this still- life. This one was probably the most easiest and fun ones I’ve done. I didn’t really have problem with the shading, I mostly used charcoal pencil, composed charcoal and a little bit of ebony pencil. I wanted to represents that the shadow of the shapes can move in different ways when it comes to the still-life, for mostly this took up some of the page.

On the top right hand corner is a lines and contour of a vase, this probably only took me ten minutes to do. I used only ebony pencil, It’s at least my favorite part of the design.

On the upper left hand corner is a positive and negative, I didn’t want do composition again like I did on the glasses vase on the left down hand corner, I used a lot of composed charcoal a little bit too much and it didn’t come out the way I want it to be so I just left it like that.

In the middle, I did a positive and negative of the small can, since it stood out the most to me. I put more texture a little bit in the negative to make it more effect and lines. I used compressed charcoal and ebony pencil. This is also one of my favorites besides the cross-hatching vase and grapes.

On the down right corner, I did cross- hatching vase and grapes . Cross-hatching use to be my favorite a while back that I would do it all the time but I lost touch on doing it and forgot how to do it again. I used an only an ebony pencil, it should have used a sharpie but I was too scared to mess it up and not risk it. But I think I did a pretty good job with how I composed the cross hatching on the grapes especially when cross- hatching can also be curves.

Finally, one of my favorite one on the left down corner I did composed glass bottles. This is the first one I work with cause at first I didn’t know if were still practicing own thumbnail or going into the still-life.I was working on that and the skull at the same time using ebony pencil, charcoal pencil, and graphite stick to give it more a realistic. I wish I could have more effects on the shadows, but still work in the end.

This last of the four drawings was very last minute, I wanted to do another positive and negative value but this time with value in it. I kinda messed up for that I used Composed charcoal which was really messy and had gotten everywhere around the picture which is what I wanted. But the part where it started to mess up was when I started erasing for the outline for the tool cup thingy. This is my least favorite of the 4- drawings and I wish I had more time on it, in order to fix it.
